Greenspring Montessori Parents: Get Involved through the Parent Association!

EmilyDear Parents, Grandparents, and Caregivers,

After a long hiatus, the Parent Association is returning to Greenspring Montessori School, and we need your help!

I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of parents, faculty and staff here at Greenspring Montessori! Since last September, I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with many of you to learn about your educational journey, hear your “Montessori aha moments,” commiserate about being the parent of a critical-thinking, self-reliant Montessori child and feel increasingly confident in my not-so-traditional decision to put my daughter in a program based on unconventional wisdom to  ignite her purpose within.

Although Greenspring Montessori School functions like a well-oiled machine on its own, the Board has tasked the Parent Association with cultivating the parent experience through strengthening coordination between parents and school leadership and supporting school activities through coordination of parent involvement. In Tamara’s terms, creating a love pillar. In my words, allowing for compassion and understanding from both sides, parent to staff, staff to parent, to support an environment of unconditional respect.

Our goals for 2014 are to:

  1. Consistently Engage at least 50 caregivers in the Parent Association.  We are already half way to our goal, but need more involvement and since this is new territory for all of us, we are looking especially for people with previous parent association experience. Sign up at this link!
  2. Goal number 2 is to Enhance communication.  Our PA Secretary, Myasha Kirk, will focus on  educating us all about parent related opportunities and information, thereby making your relationship with the school easier
  3. Our third goal is Supporting each classroom and family with the Ambassador/Coordinator Program. Susan Sherman  is our Vice President, and she has moved full steam ahead on this program.
  4. And finally,  our fourth and final goal is to Maintain the existing parent associated events—Harvest Festival, Grandfriend’s Day, Spring Soiree and Book Fair. While we have had many parents sign-up already, more are needed.

We are looking for volunteers at all levels of involvement. At this link is list of ways you can support your child’s educational community. Please fill out the form at this link to indicate which area is of interest to you!

Thank you so very much, I look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Emily Elizabeth Brown
Parent Association President
