Dear Members of Greenspring Montessori School Community:
As the new Chair of the School’s Board of Trustees, I would like to share with you some important accomplishments during the recent past, and some significant plans for the near future.
Over the past four years, I have had the pleasure of serving on the School’s Board of Trustees, working with over a dozen individuals who are completely dedicated to the continued success and prosperity of the school, and the wellbeing its students, parents, teachers and staff.
In the past year, the Board, Head of School Tamara Balis, other School administrators and faculty have worked together to formulate a new mission statement for the School — igniting purpose and voice in a fully engaged learning community.
We have engaged in re-branding efforts that include a new name and logo for the School: the name Greenspring Montessori School signifying the love for our location, signaling where we are located, and aligning with the concepts of Montessori – the great focus on wonder, beauty and the natural environment.
We have also created a strategic plan (link soon to come) for the next five years, which lays out an agenda for reforms to ensure that the school continues achieving its mission.
Plans for the near future include significant renovations of our charming yet aging campus and facilities, with a complete overhaul of the Friedberg building this summer, as well as plans to work on other campus buildings and campus grounds over the next few years, to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.
Among other plans, the Board will work with Ms. Balis and her staff to continue to build enrollment and fundraising, to strengthen the use of authentic Montessori practices, and to re-establish a parents association.
On the behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank you for your continued support of the School.
Fred B. Brown
Chair of the Board of Trustees
